Examinations
Includes but not limited to:
Extraoral-Assessing the outside area of the head, face, neck and assessing the function of the jaw joints .
Intraoral-An assessment of all teeth and surrounding tissue.
Includes attaining periodontal measurements – assessing the health of the gums and bone tissue surrounding the teeth (diagnosing the presence or absence of oral disease).
Interpretation of xrays-viewing and communicating findings to the client.
Oral cancer Screening – assessing the lips, cheeks, gums and tongue for abnormalities.
An individualized care plan is determined and discussed together with the client.
Scaling
The detailed removal of calculus (tartar) and bacterial plaque deposits on the teeth.
Stain Removal / Polishing
The removal of surface stains with dental instruments, or slow speed polishing handpiece.
Desensitizing
The application of a concentrated desensitizing agents to alleviate the discomfort of tooth sensitivity.
Preventative Counseling and Oral Hygiene Instruction
Personalized instruction based on client needs and abilities. Client recommendations may be provided to caregivers after the appointment for reference.
Margination
Removing or smoothing overhanging restorations.
Anti-cariogenic Agent Application
Cavity arresting agent may be recommended based on client needs and individual circumstances. (Silver Diamine Fluoride)
